Uh, just an idea but it seems like Newt Gingrich is making us stew a little. With a lack of conservative leadership in the Congress, RINOs are sweet with the Dems and the conservatives are scared to death about this 'stimulus' spending that we can't pay for. But we can't do anything to stop it. So enters the leader of the Republican revolution of 1994. A man with vision and leadership qualities. Is he preparing to run for president?

Is there room?

I asked my wife if people with extremist tendencies had any place in society. Mainly, if people who come out of cults or at least radical religious sects could be productive members of the church. She didn't know. I don't either.

Because some of them turn to the weak and beggarly elements of the world. Burnt out from being in "hyper" mode. So much intensity you just want to forget the whole thing.
Others know that you can't forget the whole thing. It wouldn't be right. But how do you apply your knowledge and experience to your present surroundings? There is a feeling of need to apply these things but where is the outlet? Regular religion with it's rituals and/or monkey motion just aren't enough. Anyway, it just seems to be so in vain.

Maybe that's what being on drugs is like. Looking for the intense feeling (good or bad) and never able to find it again. You know, most people are looking for solace in religion and there is undoubtedly, undeniably that peace found only in Christ. But the folks who were in these cults or extreme sects weren't looking for just solace, something to appease their conscience. They felt like they had the right thing and they put everything into it.

So does God have a place for them? Does He say, "you turned your back on Me because of your disillusionment. You just stay away." Or does He say, "I'm right here. Stop looking."

Why do so many of these particular people turn back or are seemingly unable to gain their bearings again?
I believe they can be leaders and comforters. But the scarring is done. They will never be understood completely nor will they ever fit the mold perfectly.

So thinking today, I have seen the hand of God throughout my entire Christian life. The evidence has been in the attendant blessing that comes with His leading. And there's a feeling too. Of expectancy. But what? What is next?

Some of you know exactly what I'm talking about. Others don't and can't. And that's okay too. I guess we're different members of the same Body.

Take care.
Jake's Prayer
By Bill Jones

Jake, the rancher, went one day
to fix a distant fence.
The wind was cold and gusty and
the clouds rolled gray and dense,

As he pounded the last nail in
and gathered tools to go.
The temperature had fallen
and the snow began to blow.

When he finally reached his pickup,
he felt a heavy heart,
from the sound of that ignition,
he knew it wouldn't start.

So Jake did what most of us do
if we'd have been there.
He humbly bowed his balding head
and sent aloft a prayer.

As he turned the key for the last time,
he softly cursed his luck.
They found him three days later,
frozen stiff in that old truck.

Now Jake had been around in life
and done his share of roamin'.
But when he saw Heaven,
he was shocked -- it look just like Wyomin'.

Of all the saints in Heaven,
his favorite was St. Peter.
Now, this line, it ain't needed
but it helps with rhyme and meter.

So they set and talked a minute or two,
or maybe it was three,
Nobody was keepin' score --
in Heaven time is free.

"I've always heard," Jake said to Pete,
"that God will answer prayers,
But one time I asked for help,
well He, just plain wasn't there.

Does God answer prayers of some,
and ignores the prayers of others?
That don't seem exactly square --
I know all men are brothers.

Or does he randomly reply,
without good rhyme or reason?
Maybe, it's the time of day,
the weather or the season.

Now I ain't trying to act smart,
it's just the way I feel,
And I was wonderin', could you tell --
what the heck's the deal?"

Peter listened very patiently
and when Jake was done,
There were smiles of recognition,
and he said, "So, you're the one!

That day your truck, it wouldn't start,
and you sent your prayer a flying,
You gave us all a real bad time,
with hundreds of us a trying.

A thousand angels rushed to check
the status of your file,
But you know, Jake, we hadn't heard
from you in quite a while

And though all prayers are answered,
and God ain't got no quota,
He didn't recognize your voice,
and started a truck in North Dakota."

Moral of the story:
Pray Early... and Pray Often.
Have you ever noticed how some folks don’t pray until prayer is the only option they have left?
The apostle Paul reminds us in Thessalonians 5:17 to, “Pray continually.” We need to communicate and fellowship with God, our creator, on a regular and continual basis.

Take this for what you will. I found an old book here by David Wilkerson where he preaches the destruction of America. This is an excerpt:

Warning Signs

Before the great holocaust there will be smaller holocausts - the oil fields of the middle east will be ablaze, and the smoke will rise night and day as a warning of the greater holocaust yet to come. There will be bombs falling on oil fields, on shipping docks and storage tanks. There will be panic among all oil producers, and shippers, and upon all nations dependent on that oil.
Soon, very soon, an economic nightmare will explode into reality. What frightful news it will be! "O thou that dwellest upon many waters, abundant in treasures, thine end is come, and the measure of the covetousness" (Jeremiah 51:13). America is about to face a time of mass hysteria, as banks close and financial institutions crumble and our economy spins totally out of control. Gold and silver will also lose their value. "They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be removed: Their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in a day of the wrath of the Lord: they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their bowels: because it is the stumblingblock of their iniquity" (Ezekiel 7:19). The chaos that is coming cannot be stopped by our government. Ezekiel warned, "The hands of the people of the land shall be troubled: I will do unto them after their way, and according to their deserts will I judge them" (Ezekiel 7:27). These prophecies once again reveal God's judgmental decrees to wicked nations.
Scoff if you choose, but the underlying fears about a collapse will soon become a tragic reality. Numerous cracks will appear in our fragile prosperity, and soon even the most pessimistic will know in their hearts that a total collapse is certain. Senators and congressmen will sit in stunned silence as they realize no one can stop the tailspin into chaos. Business, political, and economic leaders will be terrorized by its suddenness and its far-reaching effect. "Son of man, when the land sinneth against me by trespassing grievously, then will I strech out mine hand upon it, and will break the staff of the bread thereof, and will send famine upon it, and will cut off man and beast from it" (Ezekiel 14:13). The great holocaust follows an economic collapse in America. The enemy will make its move when we are weak and helpless."
--Set The Trumpet To Thy Mouth, David Wilkerson, pgs. 14, 15

I remember the burning oil fields from the first Gulf War. Today, two more banks failed. The book was published in 1985 so again, take it for what you will.
